The Dinkenesh Fund – helping needy animals in Ethiopia.

04-Feb-2012 The Dinkenesh Fund – helping needy animals in Ethiopia. Founder Kate Faraday Eshete is spending a week with us at Airpets before returning Ethiopia.

Airpets are proud to be supporting Kate Faraday Eshete who founded the Dinkenesh Fund in 2000 because she wanted to help the animals of Ethopia.  She named her charity after her donkey, who walked 500 miles across the Ethiopian Highlands with her in 1999.  Kate first met our founder John Woodward  when he exported her dog to Ethiopia and many years later was very generous in helping her to set up her first charity, The Kindu Trust, helping families severely affected by the drought. She now lives and works in Dib Bahir, north of the Simien Mountains where the rabies vaccine programme is also helping to protect one of the last remaining pack of Simien Mountain wolves who have been decimated in recent years by attacks from infected wild dogs.  In turn adults and children are often attacked with no rabies vaccine treatment available to them. Just before Christmas Kate called to say hello and that she was in England visiting her parents.  From that phone call we have offered our services and are now the UK arm of the Dinkenesh Fund, donating £5 per booking and so raised over £945 in December alone.
