Our Charities

Airpets donates £5 per booking received to support an animal charity called the Dinkenesh Fund in Ethiopia.

Founded in 2000 by the inspirational Kate Fereday Eshete, the Dinkenesh Fund works with local communities to help them to protect themselves against rabies by vaccinating and neutering stray dogs.

Rabies kills over 55,000 people every year in the developing world, with over 10 million people worldwide being treated for bites from potentially infected dogs.

As the human vaccine is more expensive than the canine, Dinkenesh is targeting the prevention rather than a cure.

Dinkenesh also works with the local communities to educate them in animal welfare and has rescued many animals from mistreatment and neglect, including working closely with the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority to return captive primates to the wild.

Kate lives and works in Dib Bahir, North of the Simien Mountains where the funds rabies vaccine programme is also helping to protect one of the last remaining pack of Simien Mountain (Ethiopian) wolves who have been decimated in recent years by attacks from infected wild dogs.
