The kennels at Willowslea Farm were established over 40 years ago as a boarding facility by Mr John Woodward. Previously a farmer and looking to diversify, he saw an opportunity to capitalise on being near to Heathrow and the growing number of people taking holidays - a luxury unknown to him! A centre for the travelling pets at one of the world's busiest airports. Being adjacent to Heathrow it was only a short matter of time before the quarantine side of the kennels was developed and has now grown to be one of the largest in the UK. Always building and improving the kennels over the years, with fine attention to detail and to the welfare of the animals, John Woodward has created a centre for the travelling pet at one of the world's busiest airports. The export of animals by air was a natural progression and one that John Woodward learnt from scratch in the "old days", operating from a converted cattery. Needless to say the offices are now purpose built, fully computerised and employing 7 of the most experienced, dedicated pet travel consultants in the UK. Headed by Martin Brown (exports) and Angela Lacey (imports) along with a back up team of 3 pet travel consultants, a Pet Travel Scheme expert, 3 receptionists, 15 kennel and 3 maintenance staff, air kennel workshop staff, plus a daily visiting veterinary practice. Heathrow has expanded on all sides and Airpets Oceanic at Willowlsea Kennels now find themselves in an ideal position, a mile from the cargo centre, a perfect location for animals arriving and departing to and from long haul flights. Being so familiar with the airport/airlines and with paperwork already completed, they are able to reduce the time spent in the air kennels to an absolute minimum. Hard work and dedication has led John Woodward to be proud of the most comprehensive kennels in the UK today. |
